When Adam Feight died, he had little wealth, but did own 40 acres of land.
His heirs did not file probate until after their mother died in 1885.
In 1886 George filed to assign the land to 6 heirs: children James, George, Susan, and Lucinda, and grandchildren William Baldridge (heir to Eliza), and Charles Feight (heir to John). By the time the application came to court, George had gone upstate to find work, and no one could be found to asume the responsibility. It was believed the estate was too small to be bothered. In 1889, James filed a similar claim, and the court granted each heir a 1/6 share in the farm. |
