During the lunch break of my APR 2017 visit, I found a lawsuit that made interesting reading. It included quite a bit of detail and I did NOT have the time to copy it, nor the cash to buy it.

The lawsuit was for Robert Myhill against his wife Sarah Spencer Lombard Myhill. It was filed on 1892 JAN 28 by George W Ghoca on behalf of Robert.

Apparently, not long before, Mr Ghoca had been appointed by the court as guardian for Robert Myhill, who had been in failing health for some time and was judged "an incompetant person". The suit described Sarah as a younger, stronger, and more assertive partner who did not respond well to the failing health of her mate. Apparently she took control of his assets and determined to manage his affairs for him. Robert still cared for 4 children from his prior marriage, had a home and 120 acres, and was worth in excess of $3000.

The suit seemed to claim that she had "squandered" the estate and ultimately had sold the land. Robert's guardian ask the court for a divorce and nullification of the sale of the land to Jesse Lea.

On 1892 MAR 28, the guardian filed a notice of discontinuance, and the court terminated the suit and awarded $24 court costs to Sarah.
