Apparently, in England, getting a divorce is a two stage process. First, one appears in court to apply. If the court finds in your favor, then it issues a "decree nisi". The decree nisi establishes a waiting period, often 6 weeks, inviting anyone to "show cause" why the divorce should not be made final. If the period expires without incident, then one may apply for the "Decree Absolute" which disolves the marriage. After the waiting period expires, you have one year to apply for the Decree Absolute. After one year you are delinquent. A delinquent Decree NISI can still be finalized, but it requires a fee and an appearance in Court to explain the delinquency. According to "Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service" no Decree Absolute has been issued for the Hunt+Pekarske marriage. |
